Visit the museum up the road from Denvir's coaching inn.
Visit the museum up the road from Denvir's coaching inn. We spent a very enjoyable 2 hours or so there. After call in to the cathedral. It's really lovely. St. Patrick's grave is in the grounds. Have a drink in a 'local'. ...the Mirabelle (not sure of the name exactly) around the corner from Denvir's. The landlady is very friendly and welcoming.

Downpatrick is a quiet quaint town.
Downpatrick is a quiet quaint town. It is between Dundalk and Belfast. It is a nice two days, one night stop or just an overnight stop. It's also not far from Strangford where Castle Ward where part of Game of Thrones was filmed, specifically the Winterfell Castle. It has lots of hiking, biking and children activities.

Creeghduff Lodge is ideally situated in the countryside just a few miles each from Downpatrick, Castlewellan and Newcastle. Our room was very spacious, clean and tidy with everything we required. The cooked Breakfasts were brilliant with home-made potato-cakes. Much better than many a hotel! Our hosts, John and Sarah were always very friendly and accommodating, even providing us with delicious home-baked cookies, and offering to make us a cup of tea at the end of the day. We cannot thank them enough. We highly recommend this place and will make a point of making them 1st choice when we return to stay in this area.

Historic small town with lots of attractions: steam railway, Cathedral, St Patricks Centre, Inch Abbey ,Down Museum to name some. There are also more historic and spiritual sights nearby.
Of there's a down side most cafes close early so there doesn't seem to any where to get a coffee in the evening.
